The Catch A Break! Scholarship Community: This is not just a check.

The Catch A Break! Scholarship is more than a financial award; it is a resource to foster potential. Becoming a CAB! scholar invites you into a community where personal growth and development are supported. Not only do you meet other high achievers like yourself, but also a network of mentors glad to both encourage growth and celebrate your successes with you.

CAB! scholars are carefully chosen individuals with the potential to make meaningful contributions to the world. With a strong financial support system and the CAB! community, you will have the space to experiment and explore your strengths.

Group Meetings: As a CAB! scholar you will get to know others in the program. There are CAB! group events twice a year for all scholars, alumni, and mentors, as well as one event for current scholars only.

Scholar Database: There is a platform for scholars to be able to know everyone in the program and how to contact them (our own LinkedIn, if you will). CAB! scholars have also developed resources regarding internships and study abroad to help new scholars.

Individual Meetings: Our Mentorship Program is key. Mentors are successful professionals who have the same values and abilities CAB! represents. All scholars have a mentor who meets with them at least twice a semester to give general guidance as well as to review progress and goals. Your mentor is there to support you and encourage your potential. They can also tap into their specific areas of expertise as well as drawing upon the expertise of the entire mentor group.

Peer Support: First-year students have a Buddy Scholar. Your Buddy Scholar is a CAB! scholar in the program or one who has already graduated. They have frequent contact with you throughout your first year to help with the transition to college as well as to help you meet other CAB! scholars on your campus.

We believe you will be more able to make a meaningful contribution to your community specifically, as well as the world in general, if you have the CAB! community to help you achieve your potential in college. More importantly, we hope the CAB! community will help you long after college. You will have carefully chosen people to help you if you need contacts (eg. for friendship, consultation, hiring, employment for yourself).

CAB! is not just a check. It is a resource to foster potential.
